โ Irena Hasel, Vladek's sisterBryan "Vladek" Hasel was born in Russia in December 1998 and adopted at age five alongside his sister Irena by an American family. He grew up as the youngest of eight siblings and became known throughout his Orlando neighborhood as one of the most genuinely kind people anyone had ever met.
Vladek served in the United States Marine Corps after high school, graduating from boot camp before receiving an honorable discharge in 2019. He later worked as an Environmental Services Technician at a hospital in Michigan, where coworkers said he truly thrived.
People who knew Vladek describe someone who could walk into any room and make strangers feel like old friends. He would leave enormous tips for servers who were struggling. He spent hours with Orlando's unhoused community, buying them food, supplies, and sitting with them just to listen. He once gave his credit card directly to a homeless couple who needed it.
His family has never stopped looking for him. They believe he is still out there โ and that someone, somewhere, has seen him.
